Captain's Match Report

Another glorious, sun-drenched course, another delicious bacon roll to kick off the day’s proceedings and finally, not a wedding ceremony or reception in sight. There is truly a God!

I was paired up with Tim Grimes, Barry Smith and Nigel Fenwick, and once again, the banter throughout the round was absolutely brilliant. The course played really well, albeit very dry, so even the worst drives simply ran and ran. Overall, the greens, which had been aerated and dressed, were soft underfoot and ran very true.

Back at the clubhouse, we had a rolling meal of club burger and chips, which was delicious. So, before we move on to the all-important results, I’m sure you are all no doubt aware of the change in venue next month for Captain’s Day. This has now been rescheduled to Upchurch Golf Club, which I’m sure, for those of you who stayed for the meal on that occasion back in January this year, was a stunning roast. So, if that’s not an incentive for you to join me for that day, I don’t know what is!!!!
